![]() ![]() I later soon found out that my library had problem with Overdrive/Kobo and direct download to my Kobo was actually not available/possibe. Unfortunately, once I unpacked my brand new Kobo Elipsa a horrible journey began. One important reason/bonus was the possibility to borrow Epub books from my Local library in Sweden which had adopted Overdrive. I had been using Amazon Kindle for many years but decided to switch to Kobo for several reasons. But as soon as I downgraded, indeed when I moved the books it auto authorized the device and worked right away. The big reason why this immediately clicked is that for the above steps, when I transfered the books onto the Kobo, mine did not "auto" authorize. Get the 3.0 installer from this thread. You need to do this before you downgrade because version 3.0 does not have a deauthorize button (Why?!) Trying this worked but with additional steps. What finally worked is that I noticed in another thread someone mentioned that they had to downgrade Adobe editions. With new books, old books, redownloading books. I tried these exact steps atleast 5 times. HERE IS THE SECRET YOU NEED ADOBE DIGITAL EDITIONS VERSION 3.0 OK for anyone else trying this but it not working, So I'm not exactly sure why it worked that time, but maybe I had done things in a little different order before. But the steps above were the last thing that I tried, after having my previous attempt fail, and it worked. I had even done a factory reset of my Kobo and also completely deleted ADE from my laptop and reinstalled it. I had also tried a whole bunch similar steps a bunch of times. I realize you kind of said that you had done this already. This is what I did:ġ - Delete the books from my Kobo and ADE.Ĥ - Reauthorized my ADE (using my Overdrive credentials)Ħ - Reimported my books from ADE into my Kobo (without reauthorizing first, this got done automatically at that point I think) I did get it working recently after having it fail (in the exact way you describe) a bunch of times. ![]() It was one of the reasons I bought a newer Kobo that allowed me to sign into Overdrive and borrow books directly on the device. I've run into this problem a bunch as well. Has anyone run into this and found a solution?ĮDIT: maybe interesting info: books to upload to the Kobo, but they don't show the cover. I wonder if I'll ever be able to borrow books from my library (which is the main reason I bought a Kobo) without doing illegal things like removing the DRM. I also tried removing authorization from my computer, reauthorize my computer, reauthorize the Kobo, redownload the books, authorize with my Overdrive creds instead of my Adobe account etc etc etc. It is true that I deauthorized the Kobo from ADE, but I also reauthorized it again. Because you previously deauthorized your eReader, you need to re-import the book using Adobe Digital Editions (ADE).". This book is protected by Adobe Digital Rights Management (DRM). They seem to upload and sync fine but when I open them, I get an error "Your eReader is not authorized to open this book. My first book worked fine, but after that first one, I can't open any additional library books on my Kobo. I _think_ I did everything right, but it isn't working. However, I'm also running into problems doing that. I've made peace with that, and I'll use Adobe Digital Editions (v 4.5) instead to upload library books from my Mac to my Kobo. Since my library (Bibliothèque Nationale in Montreal) has some problems rendering their login page on Kobo, I can't use Overdrive on my Kobo. ![]() Discussion of DRM removal is allowed for books you have purchased legally but please note that legal requirements for DRM vary by region.
